First, for several of the rotor types there are two different designs offered. They are “open-end” and “closed-end” or “shrouded” rotor designs. With “open-end” design, the blades are welded directly to the rotor shaft. With “shrouded” or “closed-end” design the addition of discs are welded to the shaft and blade ends. Each design has application advantages and disadvantages.
