PDRS Expeditionary Unit Water Purification System

Brand: Village Marine

When disaster strikes, a clean water supply must be established as quickly as possible. The longer a population is without a clean water supply the higher the incidence of disease and other complications. Relief agencies struggle to supply clean water in a timely manner.

In the past, the solution has been to truck in bottled water. One tanker truck can only supply 8,000 gallons of water. It would take numerous trucks to supply a large population of water. Moving this amount water is a resource intensive and costly task.

Parker can provide water when and where it is needed. Using the PDRS, an Expeditionary Unit Water Purification System (EUWP), relief agencies are capable of supplying potable water from virtually any water source, including NBC contaminated sources.

The expeditionary configuration of the PDRS is ideal for meeting both civilian and military operational needs such as nation building, stability and support operations, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, homeland security, and homeland defense missions.

The PDRS consists of two separate ISO configured platforms that are compatible with commercial transportation and material handling equipment. It is also compatible with the Military's HEMTT-LHS trucks, Palletized Load System trucks, and military line haul aircraft. A team of four trained operators can have the PDRS set up within 6 hours and it can operate unattended for extended periods. A network connection will allow the system to be monitored and/or operated remotely.

The PDRS uses ultrafiltration (UF) to produce over 250,000 gallons per day of potable water from a fresh water source and reverse osmosis (RO) to produce over 100,000 gallons per day from a seawater source. This system utilizes a double pass RO configuration to produce potable water when treating an NBC contaminated source.

The primary goals for the EUWP system were ease of deployment, mobility, and logistics support. The focus is on technology that reduces system energy consumption, size and weight leading to the reduction in the cost-per-gallon to purify water while improving water distribution capabilities.

Parker Racor Village Marine Tec. has provided disaster relief units to NASA (part of FEMA), EPA, US Navy, US Department of Interior, and the US Army. Parker's EUWP Solutions have been used in many relief efforts, including: Hurricane Katrina, the Earthquake in Haiti, and the Native American Reservation in Washington.
