Rotary VBall Control Valves are an Excellent Replacement for Butterfly Valves used for Control. Rotary VBall Control Valves have wider controllable range 300:1 vs 10:1 for Most Butterfly Valves. *see note below about valve turndown. A valve sized for 60 - 80% open at maximum flow and not less than 20% minimum flow will give the best control.
* vball control valves typically have a turndown of 100:1. If a manufacturer states turndown as a very high ratio like 500:1 per size, it means from the lowest cv of the smallest oriface size with the valve almost closed to the largest cv of the largest oriface size with the valve fully open.
