Pneumatic Spring Applied Wind Turbine Brakes

As part of over-speed protection, spring applied brakes have the ability to stop the wind turbine rotor in harsh conditions.
W.C. Branham Inc. has a wide breadth of pneumatic spring applied brakes. They include the PFS47, PFS200, PFS200UL, and PFS400 series' as well as the recently introduced PFS520 and PFS522 series'.
The PFS400 has 2 times the brake holding torque than that of the PFS200 series and 4 times than that of the PFS47. The PFS520 has 3.3 times and the PFS522 has 6.6 times the brake holding torque of the PFS400.
Active minimum pressure releases the brake piston (pulls the brake piston away) from the brake disc rotor and stores that energy in a Belleville disc spring stack.
At pressure loss, the energy stored in the disc spring stack is emitted driving the brake piston and engaging the disc rotor for positive stopping.
