The PHOENIX HYDROSORT™ Hindered Settling Classifier offers state of the art mineral processing technology. From sand to other granular materials, the PHOENIX HYDROSORT™ has the ability to separate light, deleterious material from several mineral solids. Additionally, by utilizing a fluidized bed of slurry, the PHOENIX HYDROSORT™ has the ability to separate materials by density or classify materials by particle size.

The PHOENIX HYDROSORT™ excels in a number of mineral processing roles including sharp size classification, density sorting, sand washing, and rinsing of granular solids. Precise overflow slurry density tracking, and the controlled flexible addition of upward current water provides easy adjustment of the classifiers operation to meet product specifications. 

The classifiers cut size can be varied over a broad size range, while density sorting of light weight contaminants from sand, silica sand, and heavier minerals is accomplished. The HYDROSORT™ Classifiers consistently produce high quality spec sand from variable quality raw material and are an integral component to a plants sand processing equipment.

How does it Work? The HYDROSORT uses a fluidized bed of slurry to classify materials by particle size or density. Mineral slurry is typically fed into the top of the unit from a hydrocyclone or slurry pump. The feed material encounters an autogenously generated fluid bed formed by particles near the actual separation cut size. 

The coarse (or heavier) spec product is discharged through automatically controlled valves at the bottom of the unit. Lighter fine particles resist joining the fluidized bed and accumulate at the top of the tank, where they discharge to the overflow launder.
