The OX-TRAN 1/50 is a low-cost unit designed for testing Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) on films from low to high barriers.

Designed for both first-time users and the advanced operator this analyzer provides very accurate and repeatable test results within a wide detection range from 0.1 to 200 cc/(m² x day).

The upper detection limit can be extended to 2,000 cc/(m² x day) with the use of a 5 cm² masking or using atmospheric oxygen in place of the normal 100% O₂ (factor of 4.8).

The instrument is easy to use with features such as removable horizontal test cartridge, digital display with advisory screen prompts for operator inputs, and fully automated testing providing reliable results with minimal training.

The compact footprint and integrated control system require less space than other WVTR instruments.

  • Standard Test Method for Oxygen Gas Transmission Rate Through Plastic Film and Sheeting Using a Coulometric Sensor
  • The test specimen is mounted as a semi-barrier between two chambers at ambient atmospheric pressure. One chamber is slowly purged by a stream of nitrogen and the other chamber contains Oxygen. As Oxygen permeates through the film into the nitrogen carrier gas, it is transported to the coulometric detector where it produces an electrical current, the magnitude of which is proportional to the amount of oxygen flowing into the detector per unit of time.
