Genesis™ Models ED1 & ED2 Multiphase Detectors
Brand: MagnetrolThe Genesis™ Models ED1 & ED2 detectors are Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR)-based, 24 VDC level detectors designed to accurately measure the various layers in interface level measurement applications.
Encompassing a number of significant engineering accomplishments, these leading-edge level detectors are designed to provide measurement performance well beyond that of many of the more traditional technologies.
Genesis models are designed to measure multiple phases in applications with thick and dynamic emulsion layers:
Technology - Genesis™ Multiphase Detector
TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) uses pulses of electromagnetic energy to measure distances or levels. When a pulse reaches a dielectric discontinuity (created by the surface of a process medium), part of the energy is reflected.
The larger the dielectric discontinuity, the larger the amplitude of the reflection.
Enlarged Coaxial Probes
The standard probe offering for the Genesis™ Multiphase Detector is an enlarged diameter probe that can be generally used for most clean applications.
Pentarod Probes
With a PFA coated active center rod surrounded by four(4) reference rods, the 5-conductor Pentarod probe is an alternative probe offering for the Genesis™ Multiphase Detector.
Although this probe still yields excellent performance, its open design makes it less susceptible to buildup and bridging.
Operating Principle
What makes the Genesis™ Models ED1 & ED2 Multiphase Detectors unique is the fact that, in addition to sending high frequency energy down the probe in the classic sense to detect the upper level, it is also sending energy up the probe to detect the various other levels that may be present. (Top of emulsion layer, water level, and sediment).
This combination of "Top-Down" and "Bottom-Up" measurement, along with very special software algorithms, makes emulsion layer (also known as "rag" layer) detection possible.
